Welcome to the Motors are Fun website. We’re glad you stopped by. The intent of this site is to show you videos of small DC motors that you can build. Some are homemade using paper clips, thumbtacks, wires, and in some cases angle iron. In other cases, the motors came from a kit. All of the motors use the same principle of magnets attracting and repelling each other. This site is meant for you to learn about magnetism and motors with the eventual goal of having you become involved in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) career. Motors are what got me started to becoming a mechanical engineer.

For those of you that are Boy Scouts looking to get your Electricity Merit Badge or a Girl Scout looking to get your Science and Technology Home Science badge, check out the videos to get some ideas.

We changed the title of this website to include robots since those interested in motors generally become interested in robots due to the fascination with direct current, control circuitry, building, and programming.
