We need to teach our kids to be Makers

Recently, I ran across a very interesting video from Marita Cheng, 2012 Young Australian of the Year. She gave this speech at a TEDx talk and wowed the audience with its simplicity and her energy. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. TED is made up of a group of like-minded individuals that started these TED talks in 1984. Each talk is 18 minutes or less and this one is less than five minutes. The goal of TED talks is – How can we best spread great ideas? If you have a few minutes, please take time to enjoy Marita’s passion.

What I loved the best is her comment: “All schools need to be teaching our kids to be makers because a nation that doesn’t create is forced to just consume. And for that nation that does create, the sky’s the limit!”

Quote for the Day:  “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”– Frederick Buechner
